AWN Themes

Ubuntu很久没有更新了。

下面的网址收集了一些AWN主题。

对于Zip格式主题文件的安装方法:
-首先解压Zip文件。
-右键点击解压的文件夹并选择“创建归档文件”（”Create Archive”）。
-创建一个后缀名为 .tar.gz的压缩文件。
-打开AWN管理器（在AWN上空白处点右键，选择”Preferences”），添加刚刚压缩的 .tar.gz 到主题（ “Themes”）。

-选中你刚刚添加的主题，然后点击应用(Apply)。

添加如下到更新源：

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main

然后打开 新立得软件包管理器，选中
awn-core-applets-bzr
awn-manager-bzr
这两个包，更新！

更新成功后，菜单选择 系统->首选项->AWN-Manager
你可以添加像windows的任务管理相似的小图标了 :)

Testing Package Archive

The Awn developers have a Personal Package Archive (PPA).  The supported version of Ubuntu are Gutsy and Hardy, the sources.list entries needed for each version can be determined using the dropdown list on the PPA site.  The packages provided include avant-window-navigator-trunk, awn-manager-trunk, and awn-extras-applets-trunk. For more information, please see the forum thread.

Quick Installation Guide

  1. Open the PPA page (linked above) and select your Ubuntu version from the dropdown.
  2. Open the “Software Sources” configuration dialog, located in System → Administration → Software Sources.
  3. Click on the “Updates” tab and enable the “Recommended Updates” for your distribution. For example, if you’re running Gutsy (7.10), then you would enable “Recommended Updates (gutsy-updates)”.
  4. Click on the “Third-Party Software” tab.
  5. For each line from the gray box on the PPA page, copy it, click on the “Add” button in “Software Sources”, paste the line into the new dialog box, and press OK.
  6. Back in the tab, make sure that both of the new entries are checked.  You can now close the Software Sources dialog.
  7. Open the “Synaptic Package Manager”, located in System → Administration → Synaptic Package Manager.
  8. Click the “Reload” button.  This will download the new Awn package information.
  9. Install the packages named above.

ubuntu在linux桌面系统里这么受青睐确实是有它的道理的。
以前一直用debian,尽管Debian对对中文的支持已经很不错了，可是每次重装系统后，还是要重新安装很多中文资源。而ubuntu的桌面继承性要好得多，有点向Microsoft学的嫌疑（比如类似于Regestry的 gconf-editor和添加删除程序功能），不过学不一定是坏事，至少人家的东西确实比较方便使用。
不过，今天秀的是新装的Dock工具栏，彷Apple的，不过确实比较眩哦；
安装过程颇费了些周折：
下面的ubuntu论坛上的连接和更新源已经失效了。
当前可用的（请访问：https://launchpad.net/~reacocard-awn/+archive）
gutsy:(只针对ubuntu 7.10，其他版本linux可能会遇到安装问题)

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/reacocard-awn/ubuntu gutsy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/reacocard-awn/ubuntu gutsy main
wget http://download.tuxfamily.org/syzygy42/reacocard.asc
sudo apt-key add reacocard.asc
rm reacocard.asc  ;这几个命令不是必需的

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator-bzr awn-core-applets-bzr

安装成功完成后，你可能发现Dock并没有出来，不急，菜单选择 应用程序 -> 附件 -> Avant Windows Navigator，怎么样出来了吧？

添加Launcher到上面，一定要从菜单里面选择，比如 菜单选择 应用程序 -> 附件 -> Avant Windows Navigator,拖动菜单项到Dock上面就可以了。
效果不好? 可以参考下下面这个配置: (开个Shell, 运行如下命令: gconf-editor)
